BMPx is a media player which is excruciatingly (painfully?) simple to use, while being very powerful under the hood. BMPx is based on the current experimental codebase of the BMP project.
KeyFinder is an open source key detection tool, for DJs interested in harmonic and tonal mixing. It’s intended to be very focused: no library management, no track suggestions, no media player. Just a fast, efficient workflow tool. It supports a huge range of codecs thanks to LibAV, and writes to metadata tags using TagLib.
Drag & drop files or folders to create .m3u playlists. For each folder, a single .m3u file is created named after that folder. It will not replace already existing playlists of that name. The generated playlists do not contain EXTM3U information because a simple .m3u is nothing more than a text file with a list of file names per line. The initial tool for this task for me was a batch file. 😉
As the generated playlists only include filenames without any path, and they are located with the media files, they can be moved together with the files, as an example, for portable mp3 player usage.

Tau Analyzer is a free program, which can help you to distinguish with reasonable accuracy the original studio-based CDs from poor quality fakes, that have been “reconstructed” using a lossy audio source, such as mp3. Using this program you can check the authenticity of your purchased or borrowed music CDs.
Tau Analyzer features an intuitive user interface, allowing users to work directly with audio CDs, and has some additional functions such as spectrum and frequency analyzers, ATIP and ISRC data readers, etc.
VSXu (VSX Ultra) is an OpenGL-based (hardware-accelerated), modular programming environment with its main purpose to visualize music and create graphic effects in real-time.
Mp3Wrap is a free and independent alternative to AlbumWrap. It’s a command-line utility that quickly wraps two or more mp3 files into one single large playable mp3, without losing filenames and ID3 information (and without decoding or encoding). It’s also possible to include other non mp3 files, such as playlists, info files and cover images inside the new mp3. You can easily produce a large mp3 file that you can split at any time by using mp3splt and in few seconds you’ll have all the original files again! It’s useful because files created with Mp3Wrap are much easier to share.
The purpose of beets is to get your music collection right once and for all. It catalogs your collection, automatically improving its metadata as it goes using the MusicBrainz database. Then it provides a bouquet of tools for manipulating and accessing your music.
Because beets is designed as a library, it can do almost anything you can imagine for your music collection. Via plugins, beets becomes a panacea:
Fetch or calculate all the metadata you could possibly need: album art, lyrics, genres, tempos, ReplayGain levels, or acoustic fingerprints.
Get metadata from MusicBrainz, Discogs or Beatport. Or guess metadata using songs’ filenames or their acoustic fingerprints.
Transcode audio to any format you like.
Check your library for duplicate tracks and albums or for albums that are missing tracks
Browse your music library graphically through a Web browser and play it in any browser that supports HTML5 Audio and lots more.
Mp3Splt-project is a cross-platform utility to split mp3, ogg vorbis and native FLAC files by selecting a begin and an end time position, without decoding. It’s very useful to split large mp3, ogg vorbis or FLAC files to make smaller files or to split entire albums to obtain original tracks. If you want to split an album, you can select split points and filenames manually, you can get them automatically from CDDB (internet or a local file) or from .cue files. Also supports automatic silence splitting, which can be used to adjust cddb/cue split points. Trimming using silence detection is also available. You can extract tracks from Mp3Wrap or AlbumWrap files in few seconds.
Spectro is a freeware audio file analyzer for Windows. Currently capable of reading FLAC, APE, MP3 and WAV files. Spectro lets you view vital data about compressed audio files and creates a spectrogram of the wave data. This allows you to quickly and easily spot quality issues with a file and also look for transcodes.
Following the Unix philosophy “one tool for one job” Playlist Creator enables you to create playlists of your precious music within seconds.
The composition and creation of a playlist is quite intuitive: Add all desired files, enter a name for the playlist and select its save location. Hit the create button and one moment later your brand-new playlist is ready.
You don’t have to recreate your playlist every time you want to make changes to it. Just open the existing playlist file, make the changes you want and save the playlist. It’s as simple as that!
Combining several playlists into a single big playlist is quite simple as well: Insert as many existing playlist files to your current playlist as you like and save the playlist. Done!
