MediaInfo ~ Audio and Video Metadata Tool

MediaInfo is a free, open-source utility for examining audio and video files. It presents technical information and embedded metadata in a readable format, making it useful when checking unfamiliar files, comparing encodes, investigating playback problems, or auditing a media collection.

For audio, MediaInfo can report the format and codec, sample rate, channel count, bit depth, bitrate, duration and embedded tags. For video, it also reports properties such as resolution, frame rate, aspect ratio, colour information, subtitles and chapters.

Information can be viewed in several formats, including text, tree, sheet and HTML, and exported as text, CSV or HTML. MediaInfo is available with graphical and command-line interfaces, with releases for Windows, macOS, Linux and mobile platforms.

MediaInfo is an inspection tool, not a tag editor or an audio-quality test. It tells you what a file reports about its contents; it does not determine whether a recording sounds good or establish the provenance of the original source.

OnKey ~ Mac Singing Trainer

OnKey is a free, open-source singing trainer for the Mac. Play a song in Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube in a browser, and sing along. The first time, you get the lyrics, and OnKey learns the singer’s melody when the song ends. After that, the notes scroll towards you, your pitch is drawn over them, and you get a score with a report on every line.

OnKey doesn’t provide, stream or download music. Your own music app plays it.

All three front-ends share the same Direct2D renderer (shared/d2d_*.cpp), the cover engine (shared/cover_engine.* — cover preload, crossfade/flip transitions, remaining-time countdown), the options page (shared/options_*), and the networking/parse library (lib/). The library alone (lib/) is portable C++11 and already cross-compiles for Android/iOS.
