DMRA ~ Digital Media Renderer Analyser

This Digital Media Renderer Analyser is a test application that evaluates the capabilities of a selected UPnP / DLNA Digital Media Renderer and recommends the optimum server settings for it to run with JRiver Media Center.

Optional Test Files

In addition to the tool, you can also download an optional set of sample test files here – warning download size 100 MByte

Database of Renderer Test Reports

You can download the database collection of the test results of all renderers so far tested here. Note if you want to add your renderer to this collection please email me the report.

Local Audio Broadcast ~ Stream Windows Audio

This simple application captures the local audio playback in Windows and sends it over the local network to a UPnP renderer. I originally wrote it to stream Spotify music playback from my computer over the home network to my HTPC running XBMC/Kodi (since I wasn’t satisfied with the available Spotify plugins), it can be used for any audio though.

swyh-rs ~ Stream What You Hear

A “Stream-What-You-Hear” implementation written in Rust, MIT licensed. swyh-rs implements the idea behind the original SWYH but written in Rust. It allows you to stream the music you’re currently playing on your PC (Windows or Linux) to an UPNP/DLNA/OpenHome compatible music player (a “Renderer”).

PS3 Media Server ~ Cross-platform Media Server

PS3 Media Server is a DLNA-compliant UPnP Media Server. Originally written to support the Sony PlayStation3, PS3 Media Server has been expanded to support a range of other media renderers, including smartphones, TVs, music players and more. Because it is written in Java, PS3 Media Server supports all major operating systems, with versions for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

The program streams or transcodes many different media formats with little or no configuration. It is powered by MEncoder, FFmpeg, tsMuxeR and AviSynth, which combine to offer support for a wide range of media formats.

LMS Plugins ~ Extend Logitech Media Server

LMS is an open source multi-room audio system. It was created by SlimDevices and then acquired by Logitech. Although Logitech has ended development of hardware devices, the project is still very active with lots of plugin released regularly. New hardware players can be added using PI devices and DAC boards to build high-quality multi-room systems.

I’ve created some extra plugins, especially to include new standard hardware / players to the LMS ecosystem: UPnP/DLNA (Sonos), ChromeCast and AirPlay.

Volumio ~ Headless Audiophile Player

Volumio is an headless audiophile music player, designed to play music with the highest possible fidelity. Volumio runs on most embedded devices (Raspberry Pi, UDOO, Odroid, Cubieboard, Beaglebone, Pine64, Allo Sparky…) and on any ordinary PC (x86).

Volumio is a free and open source Linux distribution, designed and fine-tuned exclusively for music playback. It runs on a variety of devices, typically small and inexpensive computers like the Raspberry PI, but also on low power PCs, notebooks or thin clients.

By flashing (installing) Volumio on any of these platforms, it will then become an headless audiophile music player. Headless means that the only way to control it will be with another mobile phone, computer or tablet.

This is made possible by Volumio’s User Interface: a web applications that runs on any device with a browser, and that allows for an easy and intuitive control of your playback sessions. All communications between the web app and Volumio will happen through your home network.
