ShinRonin ~ Modular Filter & Delay

ShinRonin is a ground-up rebuild of Ronin, one of the earliest plugins we ever shipped, first released in 2003. The original paired two delay lines with a set of morphing filters and two fully patchable routing matrices, and it earned a cult following for the strange feedback networks and self-oscillating textures you could build inside it. Twenty years on, we have rebuilt it for modern systems, kept the architecture that made it worth remembering, and released it for free.

Two independent delay lines, each with tempo sync, reverse, looping, and feedback, feed a pair of morphing multimode filters that sweep continuously from notch through lowpass, bandpass, and highpass. There is saturation, two LFOs, and an envelope follower. Everything connects through two on-board matrices: a signal matrix that routes any audio source to any destination, and a modulation matrix that wires the LFOs, envelope, and incoming MIDI to nearly any parameter. It is happy doing clean stereo delays and gentle filtering, but the real fun starts when you patch a feedback loop and let it misbehave.

Tonbandfetzen is a collection of command-line tools that allow you to compose music based on audio fragments generated from plain text input. It contains:

  • tz mel – generate sound fragments from plain text
  • tz guitar – read guitar tablature
  • tz stick – concatenate audio data
  • tz stack – superimpose audio data
  • tz stretch – rescale audio data
  • tz repeat – loop audio data
  • tz trim – strip leading and trailing silence
  • tz mono – unzip audio channels
  • tz harmonics – show spectra of wave samples
  • tz inspect – show information on audio file
  • tz riff2aiff – convert .wav(e) into .aif(f) files
  • tz aiff2riff – convert .aif(f) into .wav(e) files
  • tz tag – add ID3v2 metadata to .wav(e) files

Sequencer64 ~ Live MIDI Looper

Sequencer64 is a live MIDI looper with a song-creation layout window. Sequencer64 is a reboot of seq24, extending it greatly over the last six years. The heart of seq24 remains intact. It is an old friend with a whole lot of added equipment. It has an extensive manual and Windows installers. Sequencer64 has build options for ALSA, PortMidi, JACK, Gtkmm 2.4, Qt 5, Windows, and a command-line/daemon.

foo_rehearsal ~ Looping & Slicing Component

Features:
  • Loop, shuffle or randomize through any subset of user-defined slices of track.
  • Import intervals from a CUE Sheet.

  • Copy a piece of text and Ctrl-V to paste to switcher.

Seq24 ~ Minimal MIDI Sequencer

Seq24 is a minimal loop based midi sequencer. It was created to provide a very simple interface for editing and playing midi ‘loops’. After searching for a software based sequencer that would provide the functionality needed for a live performance, such as the Akai MPC line, the Kawai Q80 sequencer, or the popular Alesis MMT-8, I found nothing similar in the software realm. I set out to create a very minimal sequencer that excludes the bloated features of the large software sequencers, and includes a small subset of features that I have found usable in performing.
