LINGOT ~ Linux Instrument Tuner

LINGOT is a musical instrument tuner. It’s accurate, easy to use, and highly configurable. Originally conceived to tune electric guitars, it can now be used to tune other instruments.

It looks like an analogue tuner, with a gauge indicating the relative shift to a certain note, determined automatically as the closest note to the estimated frequency.

  • It’s free software. LINGOT is distributed under the GPL license.
  • It’s really quick and accurate, perfect for real-time microtonal tuning.
  • Easy to use. Just plug in your instrument and run it.
  • LINGOT is a universal tuner. It can tune many musical instruments, you only need to provide the temperaments. For that purpose, it supports the Scala project .scl format.
  • Highly configurable via GUI. It’s possible to change any parameter while the program is running, without editing any file.

JAMin is the JACK Audio Connection Kit (JACK) Audio Mastering interface. JAMin is an open source application designed to perform professional audio mastering of stereo input streams. It uses LADSPA for digital signal processing (DSP). JAMin is licensed under the GPL.

PaulStretch ~ Paul’s Extreme Sound Stretch

This is a program for stretching audio. It is suitable only for extreme sound stretching of the audio (like 50x) and for applying special effects by “spectral smoothing” the sounds. It can transform any sound / music to a texture. The program is Open-Source and it’s released under the version 2 of the General Public License. You can download the source code for Linux or the Windows binaries.

NINJAM ~ Host An Internet Jam

NINJAM is open source (GPL) software to allow people to make real music together via the Internet. Every participant can hear every other participant. Each user can also tweak their personal mix to their liking. NINJAM is cross-platform, with clients available for Mac OS X, Linux and Windows. REAPER (our digital audio workstation software for Windows and OS X) also includes NINJAM support (ReaNINJAM plug-in).
