Scope ~ Windows Soundcard Oscilloscope

The PC based Soundcard Oscilloscope receives its data from the Soundcard with 44.1kHz and 16 Bit resolution. The data source can be selected in the Windows mixer (Microphone, Line-In or Wave). The frequency range depends on the sound card, but 20-20000Hz should be possible with all modern cards. The low frequency end is limited by the AC coupling of the line-in signal. Be aware, that most microphone inputs are only mono.

The oscilloscope contains in addition a signal generator for 2 channels for sine, square, triangular, sawtooth wave forms and different noise spectra in the frequency range from 0 to 20kHz. The signal can be defined by a mathematical formula as well. The signals are available at the speaker output of the sound card. These can be fed back to the oscillocope in order to generate Lissajous figures in the x-y mode.

VintageRadio ~ Graphical Player For FM Radio Devices

VintageRadio is a GUI front-end for the fm command-line application included with fmtools <http://benpfaff.org/fmtools>. It is written in [incr Tcl/Tk], an object-oriented extension package for Tcl/Tk. VintageRadio is not part of fmtools.

This project provides an open source MacOS v10.14, v10.15, v11.6 (Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur) compatible CoreMIDI 64 bit device driver for M-Audio’s MIDISPORT range of USB MIDI interfaces. This driver supports the following devices:

  • MIDISPORT 2×2
  • MIDISPORT 4×4
  • MIDISPORT 8×8/S
  • Oxygen 8 Keyboard

Other devices which are compatible may also work, although presently, these are the only ones which have been tested.

FMA ~ Free Music Archive

Free Music Archive (FMA), founded in 2009 by radio station WFMU, offers free access to open licensed, original music. Historically, radio has always offered the public free access to new music. So with the help of curators, netlabels and thousands of independent musicians around the world FMA became a continuation of that purpose. Tens of millions of visitors every month download music for personal use and many share and remix music from FMA in videos, podcasts, films, games, apps and even school projects.

Every MP3 you discover on Free Music Archive is pre-cleared for certain types of uses that would otherwise be prohibited by copyright laws that were not designed for the digital era. These uses vary and are determined by the rights-holders themselves (please see our FAQ) who feel that allowing a degree of free cultural access is beneficial not only to their own pursuits, but to our society as a whole. Free Music Archive is a resource for audiophiles of all stripes, and unlike other websites, all of the audio has been hand-picked by one of our established audio curators.

Free Music Archive is a platform for collaboration between curators and artists, including radio stations, netlabels, venues, artist collectives, museums, music festivals and more. The platform combines the curatorial approach that these organizations have played for the last few decades, with the community-generated approach of many current online music sites.

In September 2019, Free Music Archive was acquired by Tribe of Noise, a music platform and licensing company with many common features, facilitating a community of more than 34,000 independent artists across 190+ countries. Charlatan ~ Virtual Analog Synthesizer Plugin

Charlatan is a polyphonic, subtractive virtual analog (VA) synthesizer VSTi plugin with focus on sound quality and easy usability. It comes with a flexible, yet not overwhelming feature set which encourages artists to start tweaking instead of just relying on presets. In spite of it’s simplicity, Charlatan’s architecture is flexible enough to create both classic sounds and rather experimental noises. While making no compromise about sound quality, the sound engine has been highly optimized for efficient CPU usage making Charlatan well suited as a “bread and butter” synth even in projects with a large number of plugin instances. foo_pggb_rt ~ Foobar2000 Realtime Resampler

foo-RT – A PGGB-RT foobar2000 (Windows) component up samples or down samples your audio tracks in near real-time fashion using insanely long linear filters. We are able to do this by using hardware acceleration PGGB-RT SDK. We say ‘near real-time’ because remastering using insanely long filters require a finite time. Depending on the length of your track and the filter length (in millions of taps) you choose, the very first track will take anywhere from a few seconds to a few ten seconds to start. The subsequent tracks would play in a gap-less fashion
