Sample Rate Conversion Comparison ~ Hydrogen Audio

HydrogenAudio presents the definitive resource for testing sample rate conversion applications. Each Sample Rate Converter (SRC) is examined against multiple revealing tests, generating an overall quality ranking. A quality ranking needs careful consideration, these tests are formulated to test modern SRC routines, as such they are very sensitive way in excess of the 24 bit (-144dB) audible range. A SRC scoring 60% could very well have inaudible defects if converted to 24 bit, so why the need for high precision testing? An example might be in the studio, audio is processed in many ways, having a clean SRC converter allows further processing steps, including amplification, without fear of audible distortion. The best SRC have distortion down below -300 dBFS, giving plenty of head room for future processing and mixing of different sources.

Let’s say if the next song that you are playing, is a Hi-Res Lossless track with a sample rate of 192kHz, LosslessSwitcher will switch your device to that sample rate as soon as possible.

The opposite happens, when the next track happens to have a lower sample rate.

Transport ~ Transport Info Display

A handy little tool which provides all the information about measure, time, sample count etc that most hosts usually hide somewhere in a tiny little part of the screen. Transport is resizable and you can pick your own colours. Ideally, you’d drag it onto an external monitor in your 1000 square feet wooden studio and make it fullscreen so that your recording artists always stay oriented, but it works in smaller settings as well ;-). Made upon request by a DDMF user, we thought this gem is too good to not make it available for everybody. Transport is available as a 32 and 64 bit plugin in VST, RTAS, AAX (Win + Mac) and AU (Mac) format. MacOSX 10.6 is required.
