I’m tired of seeing audiophiles slandered at HydrogenAudio and I just had my fair comments removed so I thought I would continue the discussion here where I can’t be censored.

My response to this is to point out that the term audiophile means an interest in audio technology, sadly, these abusive people use the word as an insult and deliberately confuse and conflate fraud and deceit with a deep involvement with audio technology. I believe they do this out of a false sense of superiority, a lack of understanding and a NEED TO BE ABUSIVE. Sadly, HydrogenAudio allows this abuse to openly continue which is why I no longer post to the site. I cannot afford to associate with bigots and abusers. I also sadly can’t recommend the site anymore due to the open contempt displayed by a few users and moderators.
An audiophile (from Latin: audīre, lit. ’to hear’ + Greek: φίλος, romanized: philos, lit. ’loving’) is a person who is enthusiastic about high-fidelity sound reproduction. An audiophile seeks to achieve high sound quality in the audio reproduction of recorded music, typically in a quiet listening space in a room with good acoustics. ~ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audiophile

so, you can’t explain why an insult was offered, here let me fill it in for you, you felt attacked by this so you felt the need to counter-attack
I think you’re hurt by the fact that I showed your argument to be false.

I think you are being naive but, clearly, we are never going to agree so I’ll end it here.

In others words, you can’t argue but you can’t admit you’re wrong. I’m not naive to see disrespect when it’s obvious.
I’d also like to point out that accusing people of being naive is also insulting. Perhaps you’d care to explain how I’m being ‘naive’?

As you must know, the term ‘audiophile’ has come to mean a lot more than simply ‘an interest in audio technology’. As you also know, the folk at Hydrogenaudio have no problem with that simple definition, it is the people who consistently propound the theory, without substantiation, that absurdly high cost components are superior based simply on cost that are the problem. Any suggestion of testing methodologies that might disprove their beliefs is met with exactly the kind of response you describe above. Anyone is free to buy and use whatever audio components they wish, but do not try to claim their superiority if you are unwilling to put them to the test.

I diagree, the term means what it’s defined to mean and that’s how the term is ‘audiophile’ is supposed to be used. If people want to misuse the word, that’s on them. What I see is people putting their prejudices against others on display when they use contemptous and insulting lanquage. I’m tired of seeing audiophiles put down by people misusing the English language. Let’s not overlook the fact that this term is being not only misused but it is being deliberately used as an insult. Sorry, but I cannot tolerate insulting behavior for any reason. If people want to put others down, they should expect to be called out for doing so.
